Which companies sponsor visas for service engineers in Michigan?
Michigan's automotive and manufacturing industries drive the most service engineer sponsorship activity. General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, Bosch, and Siemens have all filed H-1B petitions for engineering roles in the state. Tier-1 automotive suppliers concentrated in the Detroit metro area, including Aptiv and BorgWarner, also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for service engineer roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for service engineers in Michigan, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering categories. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization through Michigan universities are also well-positioned when transitioning to employer-sponsored status.
Which cities in Michigan have the most service engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Detroit metropolitan area, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, accounts for the largest share of service engineer sponsorship activity given its concentration of automotive OEMs and suppliers. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub driven by research institutions and technology-oriented employers. Grand Rapids has grown as a manufacturing and medical device center, with companies like Gentex and Autocam generating engineering hiring demand.
How to find service engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search service engineer roles in Michigan without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can browse by location and role type to surface employers actively sponsoring in the state. Because Michigan's sponsorship activity is tied heavily to automotive and manufacturing cycles, checking listings regularly helps you catch openings as they post.
Are there any Michigan-specific factors that affect service engineer sponsorship?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B service engineers are benchmarked to the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn and Grand Rapids metropolitan statistical areas, which influences what employers must pay sponsored workers. The state's deep automotive industry concentration means many service engineer roles involve specialized skills in vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, or embedded software, and employers typically expect candidates whose degrees align closely with the specific engineering discipline of the posted role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service engineer jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
