Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for strategy associates?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Dow Chemical have sponsored H-1B visas for strategy and corporate planning roles in Michigan. Major consulting firms with Michigan offices, including Deloitte and McKinsey, also have sponsorship histories for strategy positions. Sponsorship is more common at larger employers with established immigration programs than at smaller regional firms.
Which visa types are most common for strategy associate roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy associates in Michigan, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field and qualify as specialty occupations. OPT and STEM OPT are frequently used by recent graduates from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University as a bridge before employer-sponsored petitions. L-1B visas apply when candidates transfer from a related international office.
Which cities in Michigan have the most strategy associate sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, particularly Dearborn, Troy, and Southfield, account for the majority of strategy associate openings in Michigan, driven by the automotive and financial services sectors. Ann Arbor is the second-largest hub, with demand from University of Michigan affiliates, health systems like Michigan Medicine, and technology-adjacent firms. Grand Rapids has a smaller but growing presence in strategy roles tied to healthcare and manufacturing.
How to find strategy associate visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search strategy associate roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform is particularly useful for identifying which Michigan employers, including automotive companies and consulting firms, are actively sponsoring. Filtering by Michigan on Migrate Mate surfaces roles in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and surrounding areas where strategy hiring is most active.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for strategy associate visa sponsorship?
Michigan's concentration in automotive, manufacturing, and healthcare means strategy associate roles here often require industry-specific context, which can affect how employers frame specialty occupation arguments in H-1B petitions. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University produce strong pipelines of OPT-eligible candidates, making Ann Arbor and East Lansing employers somewhat more accustomed to sponsorship processes. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area and job classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy associate jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
