Which manufacturing companies in Michigan sponsor TN visas?
Michigan's largest TN sponsors in manufacturing tend to be automotive OEMs and their supplier networks. Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis have established immigration support programs and regularly hire Canadian and Mexican professionals in technical roles. Tier-one suppliers such as BorgWarner, Aptiv, and Gentex also sponsor TN visas for engineers and technical specialists. Sponsorship availability varies by role, location, and hiring cycle, so confirming directly with each employer's HR team is important.
Which cities in Michigan have the most manufacturing TN sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding Metro area, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, concentrate the highest number of manufacturing TN sponsorship opportunities given the density of automotive OEMs and suppliers headquartered there. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub, particularly for furniture manufacturing and diversified industrial production. Lansing, Flint, and Holland also have meaningful manufacturing employer bases, with Lansing hosting major General Motors assembly operations.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship in Michigan?
TN visa eligibility in manufacturing generally covers roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher and fall within qualifying USMCA occupational categories. Common qualifying positions include industrial engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and computer-aided design (CAD) specialists. Production supervisor or general operations roles typically do not qualify because they lack the degree-specific requirement. Each job offer must align with an approved TN occupation category.
How do I find manufacturing TN sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. You can filter by TN visa type, Michigan as the state, and manufacturing as the industry to see employers actively open to TN sponsorship in roles like mechanical engineering, quality assurance, and industrial design. Because TN sponsorship depends on the specific role and employer willingness, using a filtered job board like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to searching general listings where sponsorship status is often unlisted.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in manufacturing?
Michigan's manufacturing sector is heavily weighted toward automotive and mobility technology, meaning many TN-eligible roles involve vehicle systems, electrification, or advanced materials. Employers in this space are accustomed to cross-border hiring, particularly from Canada, given proximity to Ontario's engineering talent pool. However, TN status is employer- and role-specific. Changing employers or taking on a substantially different role requires initiating a new TN application, regardless of how long you've held TN status in Michigan.
