Which companies sponsor visas for senior data science engineers in Minnesota?
UnitedHealth Group, Target, Best Buy, 3M, and Mayo Clinic are among the Minnesota employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for data science roles. Financial services firms like U.S. Bancorp and Ameriprise also file sponsorship petitions for senior-level data engineering positions. Sponsorship availability varies by team, headcount, and fiscal year, so confirming directly with a recruiter during the hiring process is advisable.
Which visa types are most common for senior data science engineer roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior data science engineer positions in Minnesota, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics. Some candidates, particularly those with Canadian or Mexican citizenship, may be eligible for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer or computer systems analyst categories.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro accounts for the large majority of senior data science engineer sponsorship activity in Minnesota, driven by the concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large healthcare and retail companies. Rochester is a secondary hub due to Mayo Clinic's expanding data and AI teams. Bloomington and Minnetonka, both suburban Twin Cities locations, also appear frequently in H-1B disclosure data tied to healthcare and financial services employers.
How to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse senior data science engineer roles in Minnesota without having to manually screen each posting. Because sponsorship willingness is often omitted from standard job descriptions, a dedicated sponsorship-focused platform saves significant time. Filtering by Minnesota state on Migrate Mate surfaces relevant openings at employers with active sponsorship histories in this market.
Are there any Minnesota-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for senior data science engineers?
Minnesota's high concentration of healthcare and retail employers shapes the sponsorship market for senior data science engineers. Healthcare companies like UnitedHealth Group and Mayo Clinic operate large internal analytics teams and have long sponsorship track records, which can mean more structured immigration processes than smaller startups. The University of Minnesota also produces a pipeline of international graduate students in data-related fields, meaning local employers are generally familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions at the senior engineer level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior data science engineer jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
