Which companies sponsor visas for data engineers in Missouri?
Missouri's largest visa sponsors for data engineering roles include World Wide Technology and Mastercard in St. Louis, along with Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) and Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City. Large healthcare systems such as Centene Corporation and BJC HealthCare also hire data engineers and have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories. DOL LCA disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify which employers have actively filed for data engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for data engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data engineers in Missouri, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates already holding L-1B status through multinational employers also transfer into Missouri data teams. Australians may pursue the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B, bypassing the annual lottery entirely.
Which cities in Missouri have the most data engineer sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis and Kansas City account for the large majority of data engineer sponsorship activity in Missouri. St. Louis benefits from a dense concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, financial services firms, and large IT consultancies. Kansas City's strength lies in healthcare technology, insurance, and logistics companies. Columbia, home to the University of Missouri, produces a smaller but active pipeline of data engineering roles tied to university research and regional tech firms.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse data engineer openings in Missouri without manually screening hundreds of postings. Search by the data engineer role and set Missouri as your location to surface positions from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate also surfaces company-level sponsorship history, which is especially useful for evaluating St. Louis and Kansas City employers before applying.
Are there any Missouri-specific factors data engineers should know about visa sponsorship?
Missouri does not have a state income tax on wages for residents of certain neighboring states under reciprocity agreements, but most international candidates on H-1B or E-3 visa status will be subject to standard Missouri state income tax. On the hiring side, Missouri's university system, particularly Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Missouri, creates a consistent local pipeline that employers draw from, meaning sponsorship competition can be real even at companies with active LCA filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
