ROLE OVERVIEW
Nissan’s AMIEO region is accelerating the maturity of its data governance and regulatory readiness across domains such as vehicle data, aftersales, supply chain, and customer experience. As part of a lean, outcome-oriented team, the consultant will act as a functional and coordination lead across data quality, policy definition, and regulatory assurance. Define, refine, and institutionalize enterprise-wide data quality standards (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness).
- Design and roll out data quality scorecards and dashboards aligned to AMIEO business KPIs.
- Drive root-cause analysis and remediation workflows in coordination with business data owners and stewards.
-
Establish a sustainable issue management and escalation framework for recurring quality gaps.

- Design simple playbooks, guides, and training sessions to enhance awareness and adoption of data best practices across functions.
-
Collaborate with central data governance teams in Japan and other regions to ensure harmonization and avoid redundancy.
-
Regulatory & Compliance Readiness
-
Support Nissan’s implementation of EU Data Act, GDPR, and upcoming AI Act across applicable use cases (e.g. vehicle data sharing, AI model traceability).
- Liaise with Nissan’s legal, audit, and risk functions to map responsibilities and action plans.
- Assist in maintaining Nissan’s compliance posture: create documentation, audit support, and breach preparedness materials.
- Help define compliant data-sharing processes with third parties, partners, and regulators, especially in relation to vehicle, user, and telemetry data.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 6–10 years of experience in data governance, regulatory compliance, or data quality roles, ideally within automotive, manufacturing, or tech sectors.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, ISO 8000, EU Data Act, GDPR, and AI governance frameworks.
- Good understanding of modern data architecture—ideally AWS, Snowflake, Microsoft Purview/Fabric.
- Proven track record of working in cross-functional environments with business, legal, and data teams.
- Comfortable operating in lean, high-accountability roles with limited external dependencies.

Which companies in Indiana sponsor visas for data engineers?
Employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship records for data engineering roles in Indiana include Salesforce, Eli Lilly, Anthem, and Cummins. Major consulting firms such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Cognizant also place data engineers with Indiana-based clients. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data confirms which employers have filed for data engineer positions specifically.
What visa types are most common for data engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for data engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1B visas appear among multinational firms transferring engineers from foreign offices. Australians may also qualify for the E-3 visa, which follows a similar process but operates outside the H-1B lottery.
Which Indiana cities have the most data engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of data engineer sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its concentration of healthcare IT, insurance, and financial services companies. Bloomington and West Lafayette see smaller but notable demand, partly tied to Indiana University and Purdue University research operations and affiliated technology employers. Remote-flexible roles listed by Indianapolis headquarters also extend reach across the state.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters data engineer roles by location, making it straightforward to browse Indiana-based openings from employers already willing to sponsor. Because sponsorship willingness is built into the listings, you avoid spending time applying to positions that won't support a work visa. Filtering by Indiana on Migrate Mate surfaces roles from both large enterprises and mid-size technology employers active in the Indianapolis metro.
Are there any Indiana-specific factors that affect data engineer sponsorship?
Indiana's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are determined by the Department of Labor using Indianapolis and broader Indiana wage data, which generally run below major coastal tech markets. This can make Indiana-based sponsorships more accessible for mid-size employers who might hesitate at higher-cost markets. Purdue's strong computer engineering program also means some Indiana employers have established international hiring pipelines, particularly for data and software engineering roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
