Which companies sponsor visas for data engineers in Idaho?
Micron Technology in Boise is one of Idaho's most active H-1B sponsors for technical roles, including data engineers. Clearwater Analytics, a Boise-based fintech firm, and HP Inc. also have sponsorship histories for data-focused positions. Larger national employers with Idaho offices, such as Amazon Web Services and healthcare systems like St. Luke's Health System, have similarly sponsored technical staff through H-1B and related categories.
Which visa types are most common for data engineer roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data engineers in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary ability in data science or engineering may also explore the O-1A category.
Which cities in Idaho have the most data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the large majority of data engineering sponsorship activity in Idaho, driven by its concentration of technology, financial services, and semiconductor companies. Meridian, as Boise's largest suburb, hosts several corporate campuses and is increasingly relevant for technical hiring. Coeur d'Alene has a smaller but growing tech presence. Outside these areas, sponsorship opportunities become considerably more limited.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters data engineer roles in Idaho by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually vetting each employer. The platform aggregates open positions from companies with documented sponsorship histories, so you can focus applications on employers already equipped to support H-1B or other work visa processes. Searching Migrate Mate by state and role is the most direct way to identify current openings.
Are there state-specific considerations for data engineers seeking sponsorship in Idaho?
Idaho does not have a state income tax elimination that affects visa filings, but employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the Boise, ID metropolitan area when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B positions. Boise State University and the University of Idaho produce a pipeline of local STEM graduates, meaning competition for data engineering roles can include recent OPT candidates already in the state. Employers in Idaho's semiconductor sector, particularly around Micron, tend to have more mature immigration infrastructure than smaller startups.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
