Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for data engineers?
Northwestern Mutual, Epic Systems, American Family Insurance, and Exact Sciences are among the Wisconsin employers that have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for data engineering roles. Large healthcare IT firms and insurance carriers in Milwaukee and Madison tend to have established immigration programs, while smaller startups may sponsor on a case-by-case basis. Checking historical LCA disclosure data on the Department of Labor's OFLC portal gives a reliable picture of which employers have sponsored similar roles.
Which visa types are most common for data engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for data engineers in Wisconsin, as the role consistently meets the specialty occupation standard given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field. Candidates already holding F-1 OPT or STEM OPT authorization can work while their employer files an H-1B petition. L-1B visas apply in cases where a data engineer transfers from a foreign affiliate of a Wisconsin-based company.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most data engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of data engineer sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's concentration of financial services and insurance firms drives consistent hiring, while Madison benefits from the University of Wisconsin research ecosystem and a growing technology sector. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but active hiring markets tied to manufacturing analytics and regional healthcare systems, though sponsoring employers in those areas are less common.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse data engineer openings in Wisconsin without sorting through roles that won't support work authorization. The platform covers employers in Milwaukee, Madison, and beyond, focusing on positions where sponsorship is part of the offer. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to manually researching each company's immigration history.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for data engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set based on the Milwaukee or Madison metropolitan statistical areas, depending on the work location, and employers must certify they will pay at least the applicable wage level for the role. Epic Systems in Verona draws a significant pipeline of international candidates through the University of Wisconsin-Madison's computer science and data science programs, making campus recruiting a relevant pathway for F-1 students already in-state seeking sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
