Which companies sponsor visas for data engineers in Oklahoma?
Energy sector employers including Williams Companies, ONEOK, and Devon Energy have sponsored data engineers through H-1B visa and other work visas. Large healthcare systems like INTEGRIS Health and SSM Health Oklahoma, along with financial technology firms in Oklahoma City, also appear in federal Labor Condition Application records as sponsors for data and analytics roles. Sponsorship availability varies by hiring cycle and team budget.
Which visa types are most common for data engineer roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data engineers in Oklahoma, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1 visa status through multinational employers or OPT authorization from U.S. universities are also represented in Oklahoma's data engineering workforce. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the large majority of data engineer sponsorship activity in the state. Oklahoma City draws demand from state government contractors, healthcare networks, and financial services firms. Tulsa's concentration of midstream energy companies, including several Fortune 500 headquarters, generates consistent need for data pipeline and infrastructure engineers. Outside these two metros, sponsorship opportunities are considerably more limited.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse data engineer openings in Oklahoma without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces positions from energy, healthcare, and tech employers across Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Filtering by role and state lets you focus your applications on employers who have actively indicated willingness to sponsor international candidates for data engineering positions.
Are there any state-specific factors data engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's data engineering market is heavily tied to the energy sector, so candidates with experience in time-series data, SCADA systems, or operational data pipelines may find their skills particularly relevant to Tulsa-based employers. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University produce local engineering graduates, but employer demand in specialized areas often exceeds local supply, which can support the case for sponsoring international candidates with niche technical skill sets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
