Which companies sponsor visas for data engineers in New Jersey?
Consistent H-1B sponsors for data engineer roles in New Jersey include Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Johnson & Johnson, Prudential Financial, and Merck. Large banks and financial services firms headquartered in Jersey City, such as JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs operations teams, also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for data engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for data engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for data engineers in New Jersey, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Indian nationals already holding an approved I-140 may work under H-1B extensions beyond the standard six-year cap. Candidates on OPT or STEM OPT can begin working before an H-1B petition is filed.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City and Newark generate the highest concentration of sponsored data engineer openings, largely because of their proximity to New York City's financial district and the presence of major bank operations and tech hubs. Princeton and the surrounding Route 1 corridor attract significant demand from pharmaceutical and biotech employers. Parsippany and Bridgewater also see steady postings from consulting and insurance sector firms.
How to find data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse data engineer roles in New Jersey without manually screening hundreds of postings for sponsorship language. The platform surfaces positions from employers with documented H-1B filing histories in the state, which is particularly useful for identifying pharma, finance, and consulting firms in the Jersey City, Newark, and Princeton corridors that actively hire and sponsor international candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for data engineers seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B data engineer positions are benchmarked to the Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area, one of the higher-wage zones in the country, which means employers must certify competitive compensation on the Labor Condition Application. The state's dense concentration of pharmaceutical companies also means many data engineering roles sit at the intersection of engineering and life sciences, so candidates with experience in clinical data pipelines or regulatory data systems may find stronger sponsorship interest.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
