Which companies sponsor visas for project assistants in Montana?
Engineering and environmental consulting firms are among the more active sponsors for project assistant roles in Montana. Companies like Morrison-Maierle, Stahly Engineering, and HDR Engineering have hired project support staff and have histories of H-1B visa sponsorship. Montana's university system, particularly Montana State University in Bozeman, also sponsors project assistants on research grants and federally funded programs.
Which visa types are most common for project assistant roles in Montana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project assistant roles where the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as engineering, environmental science, or construction management. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT are frequently used by recent graduates in qualifying fields before transitioning to employer-sponsored status. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible professional categories.
Which cities in Montana have the most project assistant sponsorship jobs?
Bozeman leads due to Montana State University's research activity and a growing technology and engineering sector. Billings, as Montana's largest city, concentrates energy, construction, and infrastructure project work. Missoula sees demand from environmental consulting firms and the University of Montana. Helena, the state capital, generates project assistant openings through government contractors and public agency work.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. You can filter by state and role to surface project assistant positions in Montana where employers have indicated visa sponsorship. Because Montana's sponsorship market is smaller than coastal states, filtering precisely by role and location on Migrate Mate helps avoid irrelevant results and surfaces employers actively open to international candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Montana?
Montana's economy is concentrated in natural resources, infrastructure, agriculture, and higher education, so project assistant roles tied to those sectors see the most consistent hiring. Federally funded construction and environmental projects are common sponsors. Because the overall job market is smaller than major metro states, competition for sponsored positions can be meaningful, and candidates with engineering or environmental credentials tend to be better positioned.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
