Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for project assistants?
Intel's Hillsboro campus is one of Oregon's most active sponsors for project-level roles, given its large semiconductor operations and ongoing capital projects. Nike's Beaverton headquarters, Oregon Health and Science University, and Portland-based engineering and technology firms also have documented sponsorship histories. Companies running multi-year infrastructure or product development programs tend to sponsor project assistants more consistently than smaller organizations.
Which visa types are most common for project assistant roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project assistant roles when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as engineering, computer science, or business. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT are frequently used by recent graduates already in the U.S. before transitioning to employer sponsorship. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The appropriate visa depends on the role's specific degree requirements and the employer's classification.
Which cities in Oregon have the most project assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Portland and Hillsboro account for the majority of sponsored project assistant positions in Oregon. Hillsboro draws heavily from Intel's semiconductor campus and its supplier network. Portland's concentration of technology companies, healthcare systems, and professional services firms generates steady demand. Corvallis, home to Oregon State University, produces some sponsorship activity tied to research and engineering projects, though at lower volume than the Portland metro area.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify project assistant roles in Oregon where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can search by role and state to surface relevant opportunities. Focusing on employers with established Oregon operations in technology, healthcare, and engineering tends to yield the most consistent sponsorship options for project assistant candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are benchmarked to the Portland-Hillsboro-Vancouver metropolitan area for most sponsored roles, which reflects the concentration of employers there. Oregon State University and Portland State University generate international graduate pipelines that local employers actively recruit from, meaning competition for sponsored project assistant roles can be significant. Employers in Oregon's semiconductor and healthcare sectors tend to have more developed sponsorship infrastructure than those in other industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
