Which companies sponsor visas for project assistants in Massachusetts?
Employers with consistent sponsorship track records for project assistant roles in Massachusetts include major research institutions like MIT and Harvard University, healthcare networks such as Mass General Brigham and Beth Israel Deaconess, and biotech companies concentrated in Cambridge and the greater Boston area. Large consulting and technology firms with Massachusetts offices, including Accenture and IBM, have also filed sponsorship petitions for project-support roles.
Which visa types are most common for project assistant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for project assistants in Massachusetts, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as engineering, life sciences, or information technology. OPT and STEM OPT are frequently used by recent graduates in the Boston-Cambridge area before H-1B sponsorship. Some research-focused positions at universities may also see J-1 visa usage.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most project assistant sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge together account for the largest concentration of project assistant sponsorship opportunities in Massachusetts, driven by the density of universities, teaching hospitals, and biotech companies. Worcester is a secondary hub, particularly for healthcare and academic research roles. Smaller clusters exist in Waltham and Framingham, where technology and life sciences employers maintain significant operations.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters project assistant openings in Massachusetts by visa sponsorship availability, saving considerable time compared to manually screening postings. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have demonstrated sponsorship intent, which is particularly useful in a competitive market like Boston where many listings do not clearly state sponsorship status upfront.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors that affect project assistant sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has one of the highest concentrations of H-1B-dependent employers in the United States due to its biotech and higher education sectors, which means employers here tend to have more developed sponsorship infrastructure. Project assistant roles tied to federally funded research grants at Massachusetts universities can sometimes support visa sponsorship more readily, as grant budgets may cover associated employment costs. Prevailing wage requirements still apply and are generally higher in the Boston metropolitan area than in most other U.S. markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
