Which companies sponsor visas for controls engineers in Nebraska?
Several large Nebraska employers have a track record of H-1B sponsorship for engineering roles. Cargill and JBS USA sponsor engineers at their food processing facilities, Nebraska Public Power District hires controls talent for power generation, and manufacturers like Kawasaki Motors and Becton Dickinson have filed LCAs for engineering positions. Sponsorship activity is concentrated in food processing, utilities, and industrial manufacturing.
Which visa types are most common for controls engineer roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for controls engineers in Nebraska, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visas under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category. Australian nationals with qualifying degrees can explore the E-3 visa as an alternative path.
How to find controls engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Nebraska employers open to sponsoring controls engineers. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search by role and state to surface positions at food processing plants, utilities, and manufacturers across Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island that have indicated sponsorship willingness.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most controls engineer sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is Nebraska's primary hiring hub for controls engineers, home to corporate offices, food processing operations, and utilities infrastructure. Lincoln sees demand from manufacturing facilities and university-adjacent technology firms. Grand Island and Lexington are notable for large-scale meat processing plants operated by JBS and Tyson, where automation and controls engineering roles are regularly filled through sponsorship.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for controls engineer visa applicants?
Nebraska's controls engineering market is heavily tied to food and agribusiness processing, which means prevailing wage determinations often reflect manufacturing-sector benchmarks rather than tech-industry norms. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying they will pay at least the prevailing wage for the role and location. University of Nebraska engineering graduates are a local pipeline, so sponsored candidates often need demonstrable specialization in PLC systems, SCADA, or process automation to stand out.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored controls engineer jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
