Which technology companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Nebraska?
Nebraska's largest technology and tech-adjacent employers with documented OPT and STEM OPT hiring patterns include Fiserv, Nelnet, Union Pacific, Sandhills Global, and Cabela's parent company Bass Pro Shops. Omaha-based financial technology firms and insurance technology companies such as Mutual of Omaha and Ameritas also regularly employ STEM OPT graduates in software, data, and engineering roles. STEM OPT sponsorship requires the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of Nebraska's technology job opportunities, driven by its financial services, logistics technology, and healthcare IT sectors. Lincoln is the second-largest market, supported by the University of Nebraska ecosystem and state government technology contracts. Smaller concentrations exist in Kearney and Grand Island, though STEM OPT candidates will find the widest range of qualifying employers in the Omaha metropolitan area.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must appear on the official STEM Designated Degree Program List and require a STEM degree field. In Nebraska's technology sector, commonly qualifying positions include software developer, data analyst, systems analyst, database administrator, network engineer, cybersecurity analyst, and cloud infrastructure engineer. The job must be directly related to your degree field. You can verify whether a specific occupation falls within a qualifying SOC code using O*NET.
How do I find technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and graduates seeking STEM OPT-eligible technology roles with verified sponsoring employers. You can filter by Nebraska, visa type, and technology industry to surface companies that have filed LCAs and have a documented pattern of hiring STEM OPT workers. This is more reliable than general job boards because Migrate Mate draws on DOL disclosure data to identify employers with active sponsorship history in Nebraska's technology sector.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Nebraska's technology industry?
Nebraska does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal STEM OPT rules, but the state's technology market has some practical characteristics worth knowing. Many Omaha-area employers are in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, and healthcare IT, where security clearances or professional licensing may factor into hiring timelines alongside OPT authorization. Nebraska's cost of living relative to tech hubs also means employers sometimes prefer direct local hiring, making in-person networking in Omaha and Lincoln a meaningful factor in securing sponsoring roles.
