Which companies sponsor visas for medical doctors in Nebraska?
Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, Bryan Health, and the Veterans Affairs Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System are among the employers with documented histories of sponsoring international physicians. Critical Access Hospitals in rural Nebraska also sponsor visa petitions, often to address persistent physician shortages in underserved communities. Academic positions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center frequently involve H-1B visa sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for medical doctor roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa for licensed physicians in Nebraska, covering specialty and primary care roles at hospitals and clinics. The J-1 visa Conrad 30 Waiver program is widely used by international medical graduates who complete residency on a J-1 and agree to practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area for three years. The O-1A is an option for physicians with exceptional credentials and national recognition.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most medical doctor sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the largest concentration of physician sponsorship opportunities, anchored by Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health's network of facilities. Lincoln is the second-largest market, with Bryan Health and the state's public health infrastructure driving demand. Rural areas, including Grand Island, Norfolk, and Kearney, actively recruit international physicians through J-1 waiver programs targeting underserved and shortage-designated communities.
How to find medical doctor visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters physician job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Nebraska employers actively hiring international medical doctors. You can search by specialty, location, and visa type to find roles at health systems like Nebraska Medicine or rural Critical Access Hospitals. Migrate Mate removes listings that do not offer sponsorship, so results reflect genuine opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for international medical doctors pursuing sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska participates in the J-1 Conrad 30 Waiver program, allocating up to 30 waivers annually for international medical graduates willing to practice in underserved areas for three years. Physicians must obtain a Nebraska medical license, which requires passing USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3 and completing an accredited residency. Employers in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas may have streamlined incentives and stronger sponsorship motivation than urban competitors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical doctor jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
