Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Nebraska?
Omaha-based employers are the most active sponsors for tax accountant roles in Nebraska. Berkshire Hathaway and its subsidiaries, Mutual of Omaha, and Union Pacific have histories of sponsoring H-1B visa workers in finance and accounting functions. Regional public accounting firms serving Nebraska's agriculture, insurance, and financial services sectors also sponsor candidates, though less frequently than large corporations.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in Nebraska, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. CPA candidates from countries with treaty agreements may also explore TN visa status (for Canadians and Mexicans) or E-3 visa status (for Australians), both of which bypass the H-1B lottery entirely.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of tax accountant sponsorship activity in Nebraska, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 companies, insurance carriers, and financial institutions. Lincoln, home to the University of Nebraska system and state government contractors, is the secondary market. Smaller markets like Grand Island and Kearney have limited sponsorship activity outside of occasional regional firm openings.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can search tax accountant roles in Nebraska without manually screening hundreds of postings. The platform focuses on employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor, which is particularly useful in Nebraska where sponsorship-friendly firms are concentrated in Omaha and Lincoln rather than distributed statewide.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Nebraska's economy is heavily tied to agriculture, insurance, and financial services, so tax accountants with experience in farm operations, commodity taxation, or insurance accounting have a competitive edge with local employers. The University of Nebraska at Omaha and University of Nebraska-Lincoln produce accounting graduates locally, meaning international candidates benefit most from specializations that are harder to source domestically, such as international tax or multistate compliance.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
