Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Pennsylvania?
The most active visa sponsors for tax accountants in Pennsylvania include the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG), which have significant Philadelphia and Pittsburgh presences. Large regional employers such as UPMC, Comcast, and PPG Industries also sponsor H-1B workers in accounting roles. Mid-size regional CPA firms occasionally sponsor as well, though less frequently than national firms.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for tax accountants in Pennsylvania, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Some candidates enter through OPT or STEM OPT before their employer files an H-1B petition. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals who meet the accountant classification under USMCA.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia is Pennsylvania's largest market for sponsored tax accountant positions, driven by its concentration of professional services firms, corporate headquarters, and financial institutions. Pittsburgh is the second-largest hub, supported by healthcare, technology, and energy sector employers. Suburban Philadelphia counties, including Montgomery and Delaware, also host notable accounting offices for regional and national firms.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters tax accountant roles in Pennsylvania by visa sponsorship status, saving significant research time. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, targeting Big Four offices, large healthcare employers, and corporate finance departments in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh directly improves your chances. Holding or actively pursuing CPA licensure in Pennsylvania strengthens your profile considerably with employers who sponsor.
Are there state-specific considerations for international tax accountants seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires CPA candidates to meet 150 credit hours of education and pass the Uniform CPA Exam, the same bar faced by domestic candidates. International accounting credentials are not automatically recognized, so employers sponsoring foreign-trained accountants often value U.S. graduate degrees from Pennsylvania universities such as Penn State, Temple, or Villanova. H-1B petitions for tax accountants must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements specific to the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh metropolitan areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
