Which companies sponsor visas for tax associates in Nebraska?
The most active visa sponsors for tax associates in Nebraska are the Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all of which have offices in Omaha and established international hiring programs. Regional firms like Lutz and BKD (now Forvis Mazars) also hire tax associates, though their sponsorship history is less consistent. Large corporate employers with in-house tax departments, such as Mutual of Omaha and Union Pacific, occasionally sponsor as well.
Which visa types are most common for tax associate roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for international tax associates in Nebraska. Tax associate positions typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Some candidates from Australia use the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category as accountants. OPT and STEM OPT extensions are common entry points before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
How to find tax associate visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to find tax associate roles in Nebraska without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. Search by role and state on Migrate Mate to surface openings at Omaha-based accounting firms and corporate tax departments that have an active sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to manually researching each employer's immigration track record.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most tax associate sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the large majority of tax associate sponsorship opportunities in Nebraska. The city's concentration of Fortune 500 companies, insurance firms, and Big Four satellite offices creates consistent demand. Lincoln has a smaller but active market, supported by university-linked accounting programs and state government-adjacent employers. Outside these two cities, tax associate openings with sponsorship are rare in Nebraska.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for tax associate visa sponsorship?
Nebraska employers must pay H-1B visa holders the prevailing wage for tax associates in the Omaha or Lincoln metropolitan areas, as determined by Department of Labor wage data. University of Nebraska graduates with accounting degrees represent a significant local talent pipeline, meaning international candidates often compete directly with domestic new graduates. Candidates with CPA exam progress or a master's in taxation tend to stand out, as Nebraska firms value credentials that signal long-term professional commitment.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax associate jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
