Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Nevada?
Gaming technology companies are the most active sponsors in Nevada, with IGT (International Game Technology) and Light & Wonder (formerly Scientific Games) among the largest employers of product software engineers in the state. Outside gaming, data center operators and fintech firms in the Las Vegas metro and Reno's tech corridor also have established visa sponsorship programs, primarily through the H-1B category.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Nevada?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product software engineers in Nevada, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Employers may also petition for L-1B visas for intracompany transferees with specialized knowledge, and candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Nevada have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Las Vegas is by far the primary market for product software engineer sponsorship jobs in Nevada, driven by the gaming technology, hospitality tech, and entertainment industries concentrated there. Reno is a secondary hub with a growing startup scene and proximity to Northern California's tech employers. Henderson, as part of the greater Las Vegas metro, also hosts a number of technology employers actively hiring engineers.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Nevada?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for product software engineer roles in Nevada without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. Because Nevada's sponsoring employers are concentrated in gaming technology and a handful of tech-adjacent industries, using Migrate Mate's filters by state and role helps surface the employers most likely to have active H-1B sponsorship programs in the state.
Are there any Nevada-specific considerations for product software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Nevada does not have a state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages relative to other tech states, though prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are set by the Department of Labor based on the Las Vegas or Reno metropolitan areas. The University of Nevada Las Vegas and University of Nevada Reno produce engineering graduates who compete in the local market, but Nevada's tech talent pipeline is smaller than California's, which can work in favor of international candidates with specialized product engineering skills.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Nevada?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
