Search Security Engineer Jobs in New JerseySecurity Engineer Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for security engineers in New Jersey?
Financial services firms and technology consultancies are among the most consistent sponsors. JPMorgan Chase, Cognizant, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, and Prudential Financial have all filed Labor Condition Applications for security engineering roles in New Jersey. Pharmaceutical companies based in the Princeton and Parsippany areas also sponsor regularly, particularly for roles focused on securing regulated data environments and compliance-driven infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for security engineer roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for security engineers in New Jersey, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, or a related field. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. Candidates already authorized through OPT or STEM OPT extension are also commonly hired before employers initiate H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most security engineer sponsorship jobs?
Jersey City and Newark account for a significant share of security engineer sponsorship activity, driven by their dense concentration of financial institutions and technology firms operating near the New York metro. Parsippany, Princeton, and Iselin also generate consistent demand, particularly from pharmaceutical companies, insurance firms, and large IT consultancies with regional headquarters or delivery centers in those areas.
How to find security engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse security engineer roles in New Jersey without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on active New Jersey openings. This is particularly useful given that sponsorship availability for security engineering positions varies significantly by employer size and industry sector in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for security engineers seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's concentration of financial services, insurance, and life sciences employers means security engineers are often expected to have familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS. The state's proximity to New York also means some employers file LCAs under New York prevailing wage determinations if the role involves regular work at a New York City location, which can affect the wage level certified on the application.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored security engineer jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
