The State Maintenance Bureau at the General Office functions to assist the Districts in accomplishing maintenance tasks by providing adequate guidance associated with contracts (price agreements), policies and procedures. We work closely with and coordinate all Districts, especially the financial agents and the ADE-Maintenance.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This business operations specialist will provide administrative support to the State Maintenance Bureau.
The position will be responsible for administrative functions to include finance, budget, procurement, professional service contracts, accounts payable, fixed assets, and human resource actions.
Employees in this role perform program management functions with expertise in a field or occupation and may function as a consultant, requiring high levels of complexity, problem solving, and/or accountability.
Employees operate independently within diversified procedures and standards may handle deposits and cash transactions.
This position will also proactively interact with staff members and customers to directly influence and impact results of the programs and agency mission.
CUSTOMERS
Internal and external customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
