Which companies sponsor visas for business development managers in New York?
Large enterprise technology companies, financial services firms, and media conglomerates headquartered or with major offices in New York are among the most consistent sponsors for business development manager roles. Companies like Google, Salesforce, Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, and McKinsey have documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Staffing-heavy industries and early-stage startups sponsor less frequently, so targeting established mid-size and large employers improves your chances.
Which visa types are most common for business development manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for business development managers in New York, provided the role requires a specialized bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as finance, marketing, or international business. Some candidates from Canada or Mexico qualify for TN visa status. Executives or managers transferring from an overseas office of a multinational may be eligible for the L-1A visa instead.
Which cities in New York have the most business development manager sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the majority of sponsored business development manager positions in New York, concentrated in Midtown and the Financial District where financial services, SaaS, and consulting firms cluster. Brooklyn's tech corridor and Long Island City also have a growing share, particularly among mid-size tech companies. Albany and Buffalo have fewer sponsorship opportunities, though healthcare and manufacturing firms there do occasionally sponsor.
How to find business development manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa-sponsoring employers. You can filter by role and state to surface business development manager positions in New York from companies with active sponsorship histories. Because many employers do not advertise sponsorship availability in job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that focuses on sponsoring employers saves significant time compared to applying broadly.
Are there state-specific considerations for business development managers seeking visa sponsorship in New York?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are among the highest in the country given its cost of living, which means employers must offer competitive compensation benchmarked to the New York metropolitan area. The city's density of global companies also means business development roles often require cross-border client management experience, which can strengthen an application. Columbia, NYU, and Cornell are common university pipelines feeding candidates into sponsored BD positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
