Search Consultant Jobs in New YorkConsultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for consultants in New York?
The largest sponsors for consultant roles in New York are the Big Four accounting and advisory firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG), major strategy firms like McKinsey, BCG, and Bain, and technology consulting firms including Accenture, IBM Global Services, and Cognizant. These firms have established immigration programs and file H-1B petitions regularly for management, IT, and financial consultants.
Which visa types are most common for consultant roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for consultant roles in New York, as most consulting positions qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Intracompany transferees joining global consulting firms may use the L-1B visa. Candidates with extraordinary professional distinction may qualify for the O-1A. TN visa status covers certain consulting roles for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA.
Which cities in New York have the most consultant sponsorship jobs?
New York City, specifically Manhattan, accounts for the overwhelming majority of consultant sponsorship jobs in the state. The Midtown and Lower Manhattan corridors house the U.S. headquarters of most major consulting firms. Buffalo and Albany have smaller but active consulting markets tied to regional government, healthcare, and financial services clients, though sponsorship volume there is significantly lower than in NYC.
How to find consultant visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify consultant roles in New York where employers are actively open to sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through general job boards, you can search directly for consulting positions in New York on Migrate Mate and focus your applications on employers with a documented history of sponsorship.
Are there any state-specific considerations for consultant visa sponsorship in New York?
New York's dense concentration of financial services, technology, and professional services firms means consulting roles here often require specialized expertise in areas like fintech, regulatory compliance, or enterprise IT, which can strengthen an H-1B specialty occupation determination. New York also has several top-ranked graduate programs in business and engineering that feed directly into consulting hiring pipelines, which can be relevant for recent graduates seeking sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored consultant jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
