INTRODUCTION
The Desktop Support Technician, specializing in Inventory Management, provides technical assistance to end-users and keeps precise records of IT assets and inventory. This position combines direct desktop support with careful oversight of hardware and software inventories, promoting efficient resource use and adherence to company policies.
This position is onsite, Monday - Friday, ranging from 7am - 6pm, at our corporate headquarters in Long Island City, NY.
NYC Salary range: $88,077 - $98,077 annually; compensation is commensurate to geographic location.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond promptly to user requests for assistance with desktops, laptops, printers, iPhone, and other peripherals via ticketing system, phone, email, or in-person.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems, providing effective solutions or escalating as necessary.
- Imaging of PCs, laptops, iPhones, install, configure, and update operating systems and applications.
- Support onboarding/offboarding processes, including setup and decommissioning of user devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in inventory management system for all IT assets, including desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and mobile devices.
- Track asset assignments, transfers, repairs, returns, and disposals using inventory management software.
- Perform regular audits and reconciliation of physical inventory with database records.
- Assist with the procurement, receipt, labeling, and deployment of new hardware and software licenses.
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to asset management policies and promptly reporting any discrepancies or losses.
- Document support incidents, solutions, and asset changes in designated systems.
- Generate and maintain reports on inventory status, usage trends, and support activities for management review.
- Work collaboratively with IT team members on projects and process improvements related to asset management and desktop support.
- Identify and recommend best practices to optimize inventory procedures and minimize downtime.
- Ensure the storage room is properly maintained and kept clean.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred) or an associate’s degree in computer science and 4 years’ experience in a technical desktop support or technical support environment or inventory management.
- CompTIA A+ required.
- Proven experience in desktop support and IT asset/inventory management.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and IT service management (ITSM) tools.
- Experience working with PC and printer hardware, and how to image a PC.
- Knowledge of corporate networking environments and desktop technologies (i.e. Microsoft Windows 11, Office 365, their Microsoft Networking configurations).
- Will need to travel to different office locations around once a month, or when emergencies occur.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working familiarity of Citrix, Active Directory, TCP/IP and Telecommunications is a plus.
- General project management skills.
- Familiarity with the fundamental principles of ITIL is a plus.
