Staff IT Analyst III - Senior Data Analyst

What you'll do:
The Staff Data Analyst is a catalyst for driving Enterprise Data & Analytics solutions, specifically the data solutions required for executive reporting. This person is accountable to ensure the alignment of data requirements between business and technology teams by working alongside business teams to understand business process and data flows. The Staff Data Analyst documents results of data profiling to facilitate decision making with executive and senior business data owners. Additionally, this person is required to provide expertise in analytics and visualization as it relates to Western Alliance Bank’s enterprise data warehouse and Reporting Analytics Data Store.
In this position, the Staff Data Analyst is hands-on in developing and publishing analysis artifacts as well as is a mentor to other analysts in the Team. The Staff Data Analyst will contribute to or provide leadership oversight to data solutions in the following three areas:
- Implementing data quality management, including the development of the data quality rules for critical data elements based on the selected data quality dimensions and designing the data quality results database, dashboard, integration with our business glossary, and the automation of the process.
- Implementing enterprise data warehouse and analytics data store solutions, including the analysis for source systems, source to target mapping, and built-in data quality.
- Assist with Data Governance, including the data profiling for source systems, critical data element identification, and business glossary management.

Assist with ad hoc business inquiries by extracting the data from primary and secondary sources using SQL queries and/or PowerBI dashboards.

Develop, implement, and support the processes and best practices for data exploration, data profiling, data quality and data mapping required for the implementation of the Western Alliance Bank Reporting Solutions.
- Define source to target mapping for the data transformations required in the end-to-end Regulatory Reporting data solutions.
- Collaborate with business data owners to execute data profiling and source data analysis for source systems needed for Regulatory Reporting.
- Participate in data governance activities by partnering with Enterprise Data Stewards and Business Data Governance.
- Develop and manage the data lineage, business rules (data quality, cleansing, transformation rules, etc.), reference data, and mapping documents across the enterprise in the Metadata Management Tool.
- Apply data analysis skills to the data quality/data governance process and/or to the data flows required to engineer the enterprise data warehouse and/or analytics data stores.
- Prepare analysis findings and communicate to both business and technical stakeholders.
- Create data visualizations using Power BI to explain data analysis recommendations.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years’ experience with data analysis specifically as it relates to enterprise data management including data warehousing and source to target mapping.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Strong experience using data profiling/wrangling tools (Example: Informatica IDMC (preferred), Alteryx, Paxata, Trifacta, Tamlr, etc.).
- Strong experience with RDBMS and query language such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL.
- Strong experience using analytics tools such as SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work collaboratively within a team, business stakeholders, and executives.
- Banking or financial services industry with Regulatory Reporting experience or other highly regulated industry is preferred.
- Experience integrating with data quality, data catalog and data lineage tools is preferred.
- Experience integrating and using data science or statistical solutions is preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced in process and data analysis within a specific domain or functional area utilizing demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Advanced working in Microsoft Office & relevant Diagramming Software (e.g. Lucid, Visio, etc.), as well as technical aptitude & experience within a specific domain.
- Occasional travel required.
