Which companies sponsor visas for product support engineers in New York?
Large enterprise tech employers with established New York offices, including Salesforce, Bloomberg, IBM, Amazon, and Google, have consistent track records of H-1B visa sponsorship for product support engineers. Financial technology firms concentrated in Manhattan, such as Palantir and Bloomberg LP, also regularly sponsor international candidates. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for New York-based product support engineer filings gives the most accurate picture of which employers have sponsored this role recently.
Which visa types are most common for product support engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for product support engineers in New York, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science or information systems. Candidates currently on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT may work without employer-sponsored visa status during that period. The O-1A is an option for candidates with demonstrated exceptional ability, though it requires substantial documentation of achievements.
Which cities in New York have the most product support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the largest share of product support engineer sponsorship activity in New York, driven by its concentration of enterprise software, fintech, and media technology employers. New York City's outer boroughs, particularly Brooklyn, have seen growth from mid-size SaaS companies and startups. Buffalo and Rochester have a smaller but notable presence through companies with regional operations, though the volume of sponsoring employers there is significantly lower than in New York City.
How to find product support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lists product support engineer roles in New York filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through positions where sponsorship isn't available. Employers on Migrate Mate have established sponsorship programs, which is particularly useful for product support engineer candidates in New York where job volume is high but not every employer sponsors. Filtering by New York state narrows results to roles at companies operating within the state's tech and fintech hubs.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for product support engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
New York City's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules are generally higher than the national average for product support engineers, reflecting the local cost of labor. This means employers sponsoring H-1B petitions for New York City roles must meet a higher certified wage floor than they would in other states, which can affect which employers pursue sponsorship. New York's large public and private university system, including NYU and Columbia, also produces a significant pipeline of international graduates on OPT who compete for the same roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product support engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
