You will be responsible for the observability, releasability, and security foundations that keep Ripple's products highly available, performant, and resilient at scale. You will be part of Ripple's Technical Operations team and help elevate the engineering capabilities behind 40+ years of treasury expertise and trillions in annual payments volume for SMEs through Fortune 500 customers. This role will be embedded across stream-aligned teams, driving CI/CD practices, production observability, and DevSecOps integration. You will coach, mentor, and architect solutions that enable engineering teams to ship faster, safer, and with greater confidence. If you're energized by complex distributed-systems challenges and want to help redefine corporate treasury in the Internet of Value, this is the opportunity for you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Embed with stream-aligned teams in time-boxed engagements (6–12 weeks) to build capabilities across observability, CI/CD, and security domains

- Guide teams in designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Octopus Deploy, including trunk-based development and progressive delivery strategies
- Teach teams to integrate security scanning (SAST, DAST, SCA) into pipelines, perform threat modeling, implement secrets management, and remediate vulnerabilities
- Identify and remove operational bottlenecks across deployment, monitoring, and security practices to reduce lead time, MTTR, and vulnerability remediation time
- Develop reusable templates, documentation, and golden path examples for pipelines, dashboards, and security controls that teams can adopt independently
- Measure and track team progress on DORA metrics, observability maturity, and security posture, demonstrating measurable improvement over each engagement
- Collaborate with the Subsystems Platform Team to translate recurring team needs into scalable, self-service platform capabilities
- Facilitate knowledge sharing through workshops, pairing sessions, and documentation that builds lasting team competence across all three domains
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering with hands-on exposure across multiple disciplines

- Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Octopus Deploy, with deep knowledge of deployment automation (required)
- Solid understanding of application security practices including SAST, DAST, SCA tools, OWASP Top 10, and DevSecOps integration into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools, and knowledge of trunk-based development and version control best practices (required)
- Understanding of SLO/SLI definitions, error budgets, reliability engineering principles, and familiarity with secrets management solutions (Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault)
- Proven ability to coach and mentor engineering teams with strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Consultative mindset with the ability to influence and guide teams without direct authority, driving change across multiple teams and technical domains

Which companies sponsor visas for senior software development engineers in New York?
Large technology companies with major New York offices, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Bloomberg, and Salesforce, are among the most active sponsors for senior software development engineers. Financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup also regularly sponsor senior engineers through their technology divisions. Startups and mid-size fintech firms in New York have sponsored senior engineering roles as well, though sponsorship practices vary by company size and hiring volume.
Which visa types are most common for senior software development engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for senior software development engineers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. The O-1A is an option for engineers with demonstrated extraordinary ability. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for TN visa status under the NAFTA/USMCA provisions. Australian citizens may be eligible for the E-3 visa.
Which cities in New York have the most senior software development engineer sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of senior software development engineer sponsorship opportunities in New York state, with Manhattan and Brooklyn being the primary hubs. Midtown Manhattan hosts financial services technology teams, while areas like the Flatiron District and Lower Manhattan concentrate enterprise software and media technology employers. Albany and Buffalo have a smaller but growing presence, primarily driven by state government technology contracts and university-affiliated research initiatives.
How to find senior software development engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter directly by state and role to browse senior software development engineer positions available in New York with employers that are open to sponsorship. Because Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-eligible roles, it removes the guesswork of identifying which New York employers are willing to file H-1B or other visa petitions for senior engineering candidates.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for senior software development engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
New York state's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are tied to the Department of Labor's wage levels for the New York City metropolitan area, which tend to be among the highest in the country given the city's cost of living. Senior software development engineer roles are typically classified at wage levels III or IV, reflecting the seniority of the position. Employers filing a Labor Condition Application must certify they will pay at least the applicable prevailing wage for the role's location and classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior software development engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
