Which companies sponsor visas for tax managers in New York?
The most active sponsors for tax managers in New York include the Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG), large financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup, and multinational corporations with significant tax departments in the New York metro area. Mid-size regional accounting firms also sponsor in New York, though less frequently than the large professional services firms.
Which visa types are most common for tax manager roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is by far the most common sponsorship path for tax managers in New York, as tax management consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa category. International professionals already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT sometimes transition to H-1B sponsorship through their New York employer.
Which cities in New York have the most tax manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan, accounts for the overwhelming majority of tax manager sponsorship positions in the state, driven by its concentration of financial institutions, Big Four offices, and corporate headquarters. White Plains and Melville on Long Island also have notable employer presence. Buffalo and Albany see occasional openings, primarily through regional accounting firms and state-related entities, but volume is significantly lower than in New York City.
How to find tax manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter tax manager roles by state, so you can focus exclusively on New York employers actively hiring internationally. Because tax manager positions in New York attract competitive applicant pools, it helps to have your CPA credential and any relevant international tax experience clearly highlighted when applying through Migrate Mate's job board.
Are there any state-specific considerations for tax managers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage requirements that employers must meet when sponsoring H-1B workers, and these benchmarks reflect the state's high cost of living, particularly in New York City. The state's large financial services and multinational corporate sectors generate consistent demand for international tax expertise, especially in areas like transfer pricing, international tax compliance, and state and local tax (SALT). CPA licensure in New York requires specific education and experience criteria that internationally trained candidates should review with the New York State Board for Public Accountancy.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
