Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for tax managers?
Large Michigan employers with established immigration programs include General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, Dow Chemical, and Kellogg's, along with the Big Four accounting firms operating in Detroit and Grand Rapids. These organizations regularly file H-1B visa petitions for senior tax roles, particularly in international tax and transfer pricing, where specialized expertise is harder to source domestically.
Which visa types are most common for tax manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for tax managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or taxation, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with a CPA or master's in taxation strengthen their petition significantly. Some senior roles also see L-1A transfers for managers moving from a foreign affiliate of a Michigan-headquartered multinational.
Which Michigan cities have the most tax manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, including Troy, Southfield, and Dearborn, account for the majority of tax manager sponsorship activity, driven by automotive headquarters and regional professional services offices. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub with a growing presence from manufacturing and healthcare employers. Ann Arbor also sees some activity, partly tied to University of Michigan affiliated organizations and life sciences companies.
How to find tax manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate lets you filter tax manager roles in Michigan specifically by visa sponsorship availability, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers who may not sponsor. Tax manager positions in Michigan skew toward corporate tax and international compliance, so filtering by those specializations on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to roles that match both your expertise and your visa needs.
Are there any state-specific considerations for tax managers seeking sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's economy is heavily weighted toward manufacturing, automotive, and financial services, meaning prevailing wage benchmarks for tax managers in the Detroit metro are set against a competitive professional services market. Candidates with international tax or transfer pricing experience are particularly sought after, given how many Michigan multinationals manage complex cross-border structures. A CPA license issued in Michigan or another U.S. state is a common employer expectation for senior roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
