Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapists in North Carolina?
The most active sponsors for PT roles in North Carolina are large integrated health systems, including Duke Health, Novant Health, Atrium Health, and UNC Health. National therapy staffing groups operating in the state also file sponsorships regularly. Rural and critical access hospitals in regions like the Piedmont Triad and western NC tend to sponsor more consistently due to persistent shortages of domestic PT candidates.
Which visa types are most common for PT roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for physical therapists in North Carolina, as PT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The EB-3 employment-based green card is also widely used by health systems willing to support permanent residence. Some facilities also use the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican PTs who meet the USMCA professional category requirements.
How to find pt visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters PT job listings specifically by visa sponsorship and state, making it straightforward to browse open roles in North Carolina without sifting through positions that don't offer immigration support. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always stated in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces verified sponsoring employers saves significant time for internationally trained physical therapists.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most PT sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham account for the highest concentration of sponsored PT roles, driven by large hospital networks and growing outpatient clinic chains. Greensboro and Winston-Salem also see steady postings through their respective health systems. Beyond these metro areas, smaller cities like Asheville and Wilmington post sponsored PT openings due to local shortages, particularly in home health and rehabilitation settings.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained PTs seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
Internationally trained physical therapists must obtain licensure from the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners before practicing, which requires passing the NPTE and meeting credential evaluation requirements. Employers initiating H-1B sponsorship must also file a Labor Condition Application certifying that the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the PT role and geographic area, as determined by the Department of Labor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pt jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
