Which companies sponsor visas for PTs in Pennsylvania?
The most active sponsors for physical therapists in Pennsylvania are large health systems, including UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Geisinger Health System, and Temple Health. Long-term care and rehabilitation networks like Kindred and Genesis HealthCare have also filed sponsorships for PT roles. These employers tend to have established immigration processes and HR teams familiar with the H-1B and EB-3 pathways.
What visa types are most common for PT roles in Pennsylvania?
Physical therapy qualifies as a specialty occupation, making the H-1B the most common nonimmigrant visa for PTs employed by Pennsylvania health systems. The EB-3 immigrant visa is a frequent long-term pathway, particularly for internationally trained PTs willing to pursue permanent residence. Some employers also use the J-1 exchange visitor visa for clinical training programs, though that category carries a two-year home residency requirement.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most PT sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia accounts for the largest share of PT sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, supported by its dense concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Pittsburgh is the second major hub, driven by UPMC's extensive network. Harrisburg, Allentown, and Scranton also have demand through regional health systems, with rural areas increasingly recruiting internationally trained PTs to address shortages.
How to find pt visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search PT roles in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from health systems and outpatient providers across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and smaller Pennsylvania markets. Because sponsorship willingness is pre-filtered, you can focus your applications on employers who have already demonstrated a history of sponsoring physical therapists.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained PTs seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires physical therapists to obtain state licensure through the State Board of Physical Therapy before practicing. International graduates must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency, which can take several weeks and is a prerequisite for both licensure and employer sponsorship. Pennsylvania's large university system, including programs at Drexel and Thomas Jefferson University, also creates a pipeline that some health systems use to identify and sponsor internationally trained clinical talent.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pt jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
