Which companies sponsor visas for compliance roles in North Dakota?
Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Gate City Bank, Sanford Health, and the Bank of North Dakota are among the larger North Dakota employers with compliance functions that have filed Labor Condition Applications in the past. Energy companies tied to the Bakken region and regional financial institutions are the most consistent sources of compliance sponsorship in the state, given their need for regulatory and risk expertise.
Which visa types are most common for compliance roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for compliance professionals in North Dakota, as roles like compliance officer, regulatory analyst, and risk manager typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying compliance-adjacent occupations. Candidates with exceptional records may also explore the O-1A, though it is less common for compliance roles.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most compliance sponsorship jobs?
Fargo and Bismarck account for the majority of compliance sponsorship activity in North Dakota. Fargo hosts the largest concentration of financial services and healthcare employers, including Sanford Health and several regional banks. Bismarck, as the state capital, is the center for energy regulation and government-adjacent compliance work, with employers like Basin Electric Power Cooperative and the Bank of North Dakota based there.
How to find compliance visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate filters compliance jobs in North Dakota specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. Search for compliance titles such as compliance analyst, regulatory affairs specialist, or risk and compliance officer within the North Dakota filter. Fargo and Bismarck yield the most results, particularly in financial services and energy. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate also helps match your background to relevant openings.
Are there any state-specific considerations for compliance visa sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota's compliance hiring is shaped by its energy sector, particularly oil and gas regulation tied to the Bakken formation, and its community banking concentration. Employers here are generally smaller than coastal counterparts, so compliance teams tend to be lean, and roles often require broad generalist knowledge rather than narrow specialization. North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota produce some local compliance talent, but employers do hire internationally when specialized regulatory expertise is needed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored compliance jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
