JOB OVERVIEW
The Enterprise Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting quality management system processes, improving process capability and stability, strengthening product and process controls, and helping ensure quality is built into products and processes from development through launch and production. This role uses structured quality methods, data analysis, and practical problem-solving to reduce risk, improve repeatability, and prevent defects from reaching customers.
HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR ROLE:
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Product Management, and Supply Chain to improve quality performance, product reliability, and process capability across the enterprise while clearly communicating quality findings, risks, recommendations, and project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Support the implementation, improvement, and standardization of enterprise quality management system processes, including audits, procedures, control methods, and supporting documentation.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods such as root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and corrective/preventive action methods to drive sustainable improvement.
- Lead or support cross-functional quality initiatives that improve process performance, reduce cost of poor quality, and strengthen launch readiness across sites.
- Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities, and translate findings into practical actions.
- Help refine specifications and quality requirements so they are understandable, measurable, and actionable for manufacturing teams.
- Support new product and process introductions through the APQP framework by working cross-functionally to connect customer requirements, technical requirements, process planning, controls, risk identification, measurement system review, validation, and launch readiness early in development.
- Use statistical process control and process capability methods, including Cp/Cpk, to evaluate whether processes are stable, properly centered, and capable of consistently meeting requirements, recognizing that capability metrics are only meaningful after process stability has been confirmed.
YOU'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE (OR IF YOU CAN):
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or related manufacturing roles preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Experience with project leadership, cross-functional coordination, and execution of improvement initiatives required.
- Working knowledge of APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, control plans, and process validation preferred.
- Ability to interpret and apply Cp/Cpk, process capability, and variation concepts in a practical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Continuous improvement mindset and ability to work independently across multiple priorities required.
ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE:
- Experience supporting enterprise or multi-site quality initiatives.
- Experience with new product launch, pilot readiness, or structured product/process planning.
- Six Sigma, ASQ CQE, or similar quality certification preferred.
COMPENSATION
- Compensation: $91,000 - $121,000 Annually

Which manufacturing companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in North Dakota?
North Dakota manufacturers with a history of hiring STEM-trained engineers and technical staff include Bobcat Company in Gwinner and Bismarck, Doosan Bobcat's broader operations network, American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead-adjacent facilities, and smaller precision manufacturers in the Fargo-Moorhead metro. Companies enrolled in E-Verify are eligible to support STEM OPT extensions, so checking a prospective employer's E-Verify status is an important early step for F-1 candidates.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most manufacturing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Fargo leads North Dakota for manufacturing employment density, with a concentration of equipment, electronics, and food-processing employers in the metro area. Bismarck and Minot support heavier industrial and energy-adjacent manufacturing. Grand Forks has a smaller but growing advanced manufacturing base tied to the University of North Dakota's engineering programs. Rural agricultural-processing hubs like Wahpeton and Williston also host seasonal and permanent production roles that may qualify for STEM OPT.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that map to designated STEM fields under the DHS STEM OPT list are eligible. In manufacturing, these commonly include industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, quality assurance engineering, manufacturing process engineering, materials science, supply chain analytics, and automation or controls engineering. Production management roles tied to a STEM degree also frequently qualify. The O*NET classification for a given role is one reference point employers and DSOs use to confirm STEM eligibility before approving a STEM OPT extension.
How do I find manufacturing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for manufacturing roles in North Dakota that are open to F-1 STEM OPT candidates, using DOL Labor Condition Application data to surface employers with verified sponsorship activity. This is more targeted than a general job search because it surfaces companies that have already engaged with the work-authorization process for international hires. Start by filtering for North Dakota manufacturing positions and cross-referencing the employer's E-Verify enrollment before applying.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT in North Dakota's manufacturing sector?
North Dakota's manufacturing sector is heavily tied to agricultural equipment, energy-sector machinery, and food processing, industries with seasonal hiring cycles that can affect practical training timelines. F-1 students should confirm with their DSO that any offered role meets the STEM OPT requirement for a bona fide employer-employee relationship and a formal training plan. North Dakota's smaller labor market means fewer total openings than coastal states, so targeting E-Verify-enrolled employers in Fargo and Bismarck early in the search improves outcomes.
