Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in North Dakota?
The largest sponsoring employers tend to be public school districts, particularly Fargo Public Schools, Bismarck Public Schools, and Grand Forks Public Schools, which have the staffing volumes to support visa sponsorship. Some regional health systems contracted to provide school health services, such as Sanford Health and Essentia Health, have also sponsored nurses placed in school settings. Smaller rural districts occasionally sponsor through consortium arrangements.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway, as school nurse positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in nursing. Public school districts, as government entities, are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning they can file year-round without waiting for the annual lottery. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also used for permanent placement. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican RNs under specific occupational criteria.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Fargo has the highest concentration of school nurse opportunities given it is North Dakota's largest city and home to the state's largest public school district. Bismarck and Grand Forks follow, each with established districts and university medical pipelines nearby. Minot also sees consistent demand. Rural areas across the state have ongoing openings but sponsorship capacity at individual small districts varies considerably.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters school nurse roles in North Dakota by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the work of screening out employers who don't sponsor. You can search by location, role type, and visa category in one place. Because North Dakota public school districts are cap-exempt H-1B visa employers, roles listed through Migrate Mate in this state can be particularly valuable to nurses who missed the H-1B lottery.
Are there state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking visa sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota requires school nurses to hold a valid RN license issued by the North Dakota Board of Nursing; nurses licensed in another Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact state may qualify for a multistate license. The state's shortage of healthcare workers in rural areas is recognized at the federal level, and several counties carry Health Professional Shortage Area designations, which can support certain visa petitions. Prevailing wage determinations for school nurse roles follow Department of Labor guidelines based on county-level data.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
