Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Massachusetts?
Boston Public Schools, Worcester Public Schools, and Springfield Public Schools have historically hired school nurses and worked through district-level HR to support visa sponsorship for qualified candidates. Large healthcare systems with school-based health programs, including Mass General Brigham and Boston Children's Hospital, also sponsor nurses for clinic and campus roles. Charter school networks in the Greater Boston area are an additional source of sponsorship opportunities.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for school nurses in Massachusetts, as registered nursing roles tied to a specific specialty or requiring a bachelor's in nursing can qualify as specialty occupations. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also used for sponsored permanent placement. Some nurses enter through the TN visa if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, as nursing is a listed TN profession. J-1 exchange visitor visas appear occasionally in hospital-affiliated school health settings.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Boston consistently has the highest volume of school nurse openings with sponsorship potential, driven by the size of Boston Public Schools and affiliated hospital health programs. Worcester and Springfield follow, both operating large public school districts with ongoing nursing vacancies. Cambridge and Lowell also see regular postings, particularly through community health networks and charter schools serving high-need student populations.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search school nurse positions in Massachusetts without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. You can filter by state and role to see active openings across Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and other Massachusetts cities. Migrate Mate's board focuses on employers already open to sponsoring, which saves significant time in the job search process.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for school nurses seeking visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts requires school nurses to hold a current Registered Nurse license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, plus a school nurse license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. International nurses must have their credentials evaluated before applying for licensure. The state's high cost of living in Greater Boston affects prevailing wage determinations under H-1B filings, which employers must meet. Districts in underserved areas, including parts of Springfield and Lowell, tend to have the greatest staffing shortages and may be more motivated to sponsor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
