Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Nebraska?
The most active sponsors for school nurse roles in Nebraska tend to be large health systems contracted to provide school-based services, including Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health, as well as Omaha Public Schools and Lincoln Public Schools. These organizations have the HR infrastructure to manage H-1B petitions and have filed Labor Condition Applications for registered nursing roles in past years.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa for school nurses in Nebraska, provided the role meets the specialty occupation standard, which typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Some nurses enter on TN visa status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used for permanent sponsorship, particularly by larger health systems with established immigration programs.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a history of visa sponsorship, making it more targeted than general job searches. For school nurse roles in Nebraska, you can filter by state and role type on Migrate Mate to surface relevant openings at school districts and health systems in Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding areas without having to manually screen hundreds of postings.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the largest share of school nurse openings in Nebraska, driven by Omaha Public Schools, the state's largest district, and several hospital systems with school-based health programs. Lincoln is the second-strongest market, with Lincoln Public Schools and proximity to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Smaller cities like Bellevue and Grand Island have occasional openings but a much thinner sponsorship track record.
Are there any Nebraska-specific requirements international school nurses should know about?
Nebraska requires school nurses to hold an active RN license issued by the Nebraska Board of Nursing plus a school nurse endorsement through the Nebraska Department of Education. International applicants whose nursing credentials were earned abroad will need to complete a credential evaluation and may need to pass NCLEX before either license is issued. Employers generally require both credentials to be in hand before a sponsorship petition can be filed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
