Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Oregon?
Oregon's largest school districts are the most active employers for school nurse roles, including Portland Public Schools, Salem-Keizer School District, Beaverton School District, Hillsboro School District, and Eugene School District 4J. Some districts work with healthcare staffing agencies that manage the sponsorship process on their behalf. Sponsorship availability varies by district budget, vacancy urgency, and the applicant's licensure status in Oregon.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most common nonimmigrant pathway for school nurses in Oregon, as the role typically requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and state licensure, meeting the specialty occupation standard. The EB-3 immigrant visa is a common permanent residency route for registered nurses, and some international nurses arrive through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens with qualifying credentials.
Which cities in Oregon have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its surrounding metro cities, including Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Gresham, account for the highest concentration of school nurse openings in Oregon due to district size and student population. Salem, as the state capital, anchors the mid-Willamette Valley market. Eugene, Medford, and Bend represent secondary markets where vacancies appear less frequently but district need for qualified nurses remains consistent.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles, including school nurse positions in Oregon. You can filter by state and role to surface employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. Because school districts vary significantly in their sponsorship willingness, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces sponsorship-specific listings saves considerable time compared to general job searching.
Are there state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking visa sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon requires school nurses to hold an active Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, and international applicants whose credentials were earned abroad must complete a credential evaluation before licensure is granted, which can add several months to the timeline. Oregon school districts are also subject to federal prevailing wage requirements tied to H-1B petitions, meaning offered compensation must meet Department of Labor wage levels for the region.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
