Which companies and school districts sponsor visas for school nurses in Nevada?
Clark County School District (Las Vegas) and Washoe County School District (Reno) are the largest employers of school nurses in Nevada and have sponsored international nursing staff. Larger hospital systems with school-based health programs, such as Valley Health System, occasionally hire as well. Sponsorship availability varies by year and depends on district hiring needs and budget cycles.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Nevada?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for school nurses in Nevada, as Registered Nurse positions in school settings generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in nursing. EB-3 employment-based green card sponsorship is also used by larger districts for permanent hires. Nurses from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery requirement.
Which cities in Nevada have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Las Vegas, served by Clark County School District, has by far the highest concentration of school nurse positions in Nevada given the district's size and enrollment. Reno is the second-strongest market through Washoe County School District. Henderson and North Las Vegas fall within Clark County's jurisdiction and contribute to that pool of positions rather than representing separate hiring pipelines.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Nevada?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for school nurse roles in Nevada to see which employers are actively hiring and have a sponsorship history. Using a platform focused on sponsorship saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings for immigration support.
Are there state-specific requirements school nurses should know before pursuing sponsorship in Nevada?
Nevada requires school nurses to hold a valid Nevada Registered Nurse license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing, which international candidates must obtain before starting work. Clark County School District also requires a Nevada School Health Services Endorsement through the Nevada Department of Education. Meeting both licensure requirements before your employer files a sponsorship petition is standard practice and simplifies the process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Nevada?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
