Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Ohio?
The largest Ohio school districts are the most consistent sponsors, including Columbus City Schools, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Cincinnati Public Schools, and Akron Public Schools. Some districts work through healthcare staffing organizations that manage the sponsorship process on their behalf. Larger suburban districts surrounding Columbus and Cleveland also periodically sponsor for school nurse roles when qualified local candidates are scarce.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for school nurses in Ohio, provided the role meets specialty occupation requirements, which typically requires holding at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Some districts and healthcare staffing firms have also sponsored school nurses through the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway. Public school districts classified as nonprofit or government entities may qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers, which can simplify the process.
Which cities in Ohio have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Columbus has the highest concentration of school nurse sponsorship opportunities, driven by the size of Columbus City Schools and surrounding Franklin County districts. Cleveland and Cincinnati follow closely, with their large urban school systems and affiliated healthcare networks. Dayton and Toledo also see periodic openings. Suburban districts around Columbus, such as Hilliard and Westerville, occasionally sponsor as well.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio. The platform filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. You can filter by Ohio and search for school nurse roles to see current opportunities. This is especially useful given how inconsistently sponsorship availability is disclosed across district job boards.
Are there state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio requires school nurses to hold a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing, along with a School Nurse license from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. International nurses must ensure their credentials are evaluated and that their RN license is in good standing before an employer can proceed with sponsorship. Some districts prioritize candidates who already hold Ohio licensure, so beginning that process early is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
