Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Indiana?
The most active sponsors for school nurse roles in Indiana tend to be large health systems that contract nursing staff to school districts, including Indiana University Health and Franciscan Health, as well as larger public school districts such as Indianapolis Public Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools. Staffing agencies that place registered nurses in school settings have also filed sponsorship petitions in Indiana, particularly for H-1B and EB-3 categories.
What visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Indiana?
School nurses in Indiana most commonly come through the H-1B visa, which requires a qualifying specialty occupation and a bachelor's degree in nursing. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also used for registered nurses, typically through the PERM labor certification process. Some international nurses enter on TN status if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens, as registered nursing is a listed TN profession under the USMCA agreement.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana. The platform filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability and state, so you can browse openings at Indiana school districts and health systems without sorting through roles that do not offer visa support. Filtering to Indiana on Migrate Mate surfaces both direct-hire district positions and agency-placed school nurse roles.
Which cities in Indiana have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis has the highest volume of school nurse openings in Indiana, reflecting both its population size and the density of health systems and large public school districts headquartered there. Fort Wayne and South Bend also see consistent demand, particularly through regional hospital networks that staff school-based health programs. Bloomington and Lafayette generate openings tied to their university populations and associated K-12 enrollment growth.
Are there state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana requires school nurses to hold an active Indiana registered nurse license issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. International nurses must complete NCLEX-RN and meet English proficiency requirements before licensure. Indiana school districts vary in their willingness to initiate sponsorship directly, so many internationally trained nurses find placements through health system employers that manage the H-1B or PERM process on their behalf before assignment to a school setting.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
