Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Wisconsin?
Large health systems that staff school-based clinics, such as Aurora Health Care and Ascension Wisconsin, have established sponsorship infrastructure for registered nurses. Some public school districts in Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay also sponsor visas for school nurses, though district capacity varies. Staffing agencies that place nurses in educational settings occasionally hold the sponsoring employer role as well.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa for school nurses, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor of science in nursing. The EB-3 immigrant visa is a frequent pathway for internationally educated nurses pursuing permanent residence. Some nurses also enter on TN visa status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the applicable professional requirements.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee generates the highest volume of school nurse sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, given its size and concentration of large health systems and public school districts. Madison is the second-largest market, supported by the University of Wisconsin health network and its affiliated clinics. Green Bay, Kenosha, and Racine are smaller but active markets where district enrollment growth has created consistent nursing demand.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lists school nurse positions in Wisconsin filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search by city, employer type, and visa category without sorting through roles that do not offer sponsorship. Filtering for registered nurse or school nurse roles in Milwaukee, Madison, or Green Bay will surface the most active opportunities. Setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for Wisconsin school nurse postings helps you respond quickly when new roles appear.
Are there state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin requires school nurses to hold a valid registered nurse license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Internationally educated nurses must have their credentials evaluated and may need to pass the NCLEX-RN before a Wisconsin license is granted. School districts that rely on state Title I funding sometimes have additional hiring timelines tied to the academic calendar, which can affect when sponsorship petitions are filed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
