Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Oklahoma?
Large public school districts such as Tulsa Public Schools, Oklahoma City Public Schools, and Edmond Public Schools are among the most active employers of school nurses in Oklahoma. Some districts partner with healthcare staffing organizations to manage visa sponsorship for internationally trained nurses. Hospital systems with school-linked health programs, including INTEGRIS Health and Saint Francis Health System, also hire school nurses and have sponsorship experience.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly pursued category for school nurses, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in nursing. School districts as public or nonprofit entities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing, which avoids the annual lottery. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also a pathway for internationally trained nurses pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa concentrate the highest number of school nurse positions in the state, reflecting their large public school enrollments and access to supporting healthcare infrastructure. Broken Arrow, Norman, and Edmond also have active school health programs tied to growing suburban populations. Rural districts in eastern and western Oklahoma sometimes offer sponsorship to address persistent nursing shortages in underserved areas.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated job board for internationally trained professionals seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter directly for school nurse roles in Oklahoma to surface employers who have a track record of sponsoring international candidates. This makes it easier than general job boards to identify districts and healthcare employers actively open to visa sponsorship, saving significant research time during your job search.
Are there state-specific considerations for internationally trained school nurses in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma requires school nurses to hold an active Registered Nurse license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, and internationally trained nurses must complete credential evaluation before applying for licensure. Some positions also require or prefer a School Nurse certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Oklahoma's nursing shortage, particularly in rural districts, has made school administrators more open to working with internationally trained candidates through sponsorship pathways.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
