Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Louisiana?
Louisiana's largest school districts, including Jefferson Parish Public Schools, East Baton Rouge Parish School System, and Orleans Parish, have historically hired nurses through sponsored pathways, often in partnership with healthcare staffing firms. National staffing agencies that hold district contracts in Louisiana occasionally sponsor H-1B visa or EB-3 visas for qualified registered nurses placed in school settings. Sponsorship availability varies by district budget cycles and current vacancy levels.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Louisiana?
School nurses in Louisiana most commonly come through the H-1B visa, which requires a bachelor's degree in nursing and an employer willing to file a petition. The EB-3 immigrant visa is another pathway for registered nurses, as nursing is an approved Schedule A occupation, which simplifies the PERM labor certification process. Some internationally trained nurses also enter through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens and hold qualifying credentials.
Which cities in Louisiana have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
New Orleans and Baton Rouge account for the largest share of school nurse openings in Louisiana, reflecting the size of Orleans Parish and East Baton Rouge Parish school systems. Shreveport and Lafayette also see demand, particularly when district-wide nursing shortages require external recruitment. Smaller rural parishes occasionally post openings but are less likely to have the administrative infrastructure to support international sponsorship independently.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Louisiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters school nurse roles in Louisiana by visa sponsorship availability, saving time compared to manually screening postings. You can search by role and state to surface active openings from Louisiana school districts and staffing agencies that have indicated willingness to sponsor. Because school nursing roles in Louisiana are tied to district hiring calendars, checking Migrate Mate regularly around spring and early summer tends to surface the most openings.
Are there any state-specific considerations for school nurses seeking sponsorship in Louisiana?
Louisiana requires school nurses to hold a valid Registered Nurse license issued or endorsed by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, and international applicants must complete the CGFNS credential evaluation if they trained outside the United States. Louisiana school districts are public employers, which affects how prevailing wage determinations are calculated under Department of Labor requirements for H-1B petitions. Districts in areas with higher costs of living, such as the greater New Orleans metro, tend to post positions that meet federal wage thresholds more consistently.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Louisiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
