Which companies sponsor visas for school nurses in Arizona?
Large public school districts are the primary sponsors for school nurses in Arizona, including Mesa Public Schools, Chandler Unified School District, and Tucson Unified School District. Some charter networks and private school systems also sponsor, though less frequently. Staffing agencies contracted with Arizona districts occasionally facilitate sponsorship for temporary or per-diem school nurse placements, but direct district sponsorship is more common for permanent positions.
Which visa types are most common for school nurse roles in Arizona?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained school nurses in Arizona, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in nursing. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also used for permanent positions. Nurses from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. All pathways require an active Arizona RN license and, in most cases, a school nursing certification from the Arizona Department of Education.
Which cities in Arizona have the most school nurse sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs, including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and Scottsdale, account for the majority of school nurse openings in Arizona given the concentration of large unified school districts in Maricopa County. Tucson is the second-largest market, driven by Tucson Unified and surrounding Pima County districts. Flagstaff and Yuma have smaller district systems but occasionally post sponsored school nurse roles.
How to find school nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S., including school nurse roles in Arizona. You can filter by state and job category to surface Arizona school nurse positions where employers have an established sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual district career pages to identify which employers actively sponsor international nursing candidates.
Are there any Arizona-specific requirements school nurses should know before applying for sponsored roles?
Yes. Arizona requires school nurses to hold both an active RN license issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and a School Nurse certificate from the Arizona Department of Education, which requires additional coursework or a school health services credential. Internationally trained nurses must also have their credentials evaluated by a NCSBN-approved body before sitting for the NCLEX. These state-specific licensing steps affect your timeline and should be factored in before an employer begins visa sponsorship paperwork.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored school nurse jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
