Which visa types are most common for housekeeping roles in Ohio?
Housekeeping roles in Ohio are most commonly sponsored through the H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visa, which covers seasonal or peak-demand hospitality work. Some larger hotel employers may also use the H-1B for supervisory or facilities management positions, though standard room attendant roles do not qualify under H-1B specialty occupation standards. Sponsorship through EB-3 immigrant visas is another pathway for permanent positions.
Which companies sponsor visas for housekeeping staff in Ohio?
Larger hotel groups operating in Ohio, including Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt-affiliated properties, along with casino resorts such as those operated by JACK Entertainment and Hollywood Casino, have histories of sponsoring housekeeping and hospitality support staff. Contract housekeeping service companies that supply labor to multiple hotel clients also periodically file sponsorships, particularly under the H-2B program for seasonal demand periods.
Which cities in Ohio have the most housekeeping sponsorship jobs?
Columbus draws the highest concentration of hotel housekeeping demand due to its convention center, Ohio State University visitor traffic, and corporate travel market. Cleveland and Cincinnati follow, supported by tourism, major sporting events, and business travel. Sandusky area properties near Cedar Point see strong seasonal housekeeping demand during summer months, making it a notable source of H-2B sponsorship activity in the state.
How to find housekeeping visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters housekeeping roles in Ohio from employers willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general job postings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where sponsorship is part of the offer. Filtering by state and role type helps narrow results to Ohio housekeeping opportunities across hotels, resorts, and hospitality service companies.
Are there any state-specific considerations for housekeeping workers seeking sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio housekeeping workers sponsored under H-2B must be paid the prevailing wage for the occupation and county as determined by the Department of Labor, which varies between Ohio's urban and rural counties. Ohio's hospitality sector has predictable seasonal peaks around summer tourism and major Columbus events, which influences when H-2B petitions are filed. Workers should confirm their employer has obtained proper DOL certification before beginning any sponsored role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored housekeeping jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
