Which companies sponsor visas for service techs in Ohio?
Ohio's largest visa sponsors for service tech roles include Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville, Siemens operations across Columbus and Cincinnati, Parker Hannifin in Cleveland, and medical equipment companies like Philips Healthcare. Industrial automation and HVAC equipment firms have also filed Labor Condition Applications for service technician positions, reflecting Ohio's concentration of advanced manufacturing and capital equipment industries.
Which visa types are most common for service tech roles in Ohio?
H-1B visas are the most common path for service techs in Ohio when the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, such as electrical engineering or mechatronics. Roles that don't meet the specialty occupation threshold may not qualify for H-1B. Some employers use TN visas for Canadian or Mexican nationals in eligible engineering-adjacent classifications. Each case depends on the specific job duties and employer.
Which cities in Ohio have the most service tech sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for service tech sponsorship activity, driven by its mix of technology companies, healthcare systems, and proximity to Honda's manufacturing operations. Cleveland follows, with strong demand tied to Parker Hannifin, medical device firms, and the broader industrial supply chain. Dayton and Cincinnati also generate consistent service tech openings through aerospace contractors, Siemens, and precision manufacturing employers.
How to find service tech visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find service tech visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio. The platform filters jobs specifically to roles where employers have a demonstrated history of sponsoring work visas, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to see active Ohio service tech openings from employers open to sponsorship.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for service techs seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are set by the Department of Labor and vary by metro area, with Columbus and Cleveland generally reflecting higher wage levels than smaller Ohio markets. Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into service tech roles with on-campus employer connections. Service techs in regulated industries like medical devices or aerospace may also face additional employer compliance requirements beyond standard visa sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service tech jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
