Which companies sponsor visas for service techs in Wisconsin?
Manufacturers and equipment companies with large Wisconsin operations are the most active sponsors. Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, Generac Power Systems in Waukesha, and Oshkosh Corporation in Oshkosh have sponsored H-1B visa and other work visas for technical roles. Medical device and industrial automation companies across the Fox Valley region also have established sponsorship track records for specialized service technicians.
Which visa types are most common for service tech roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for service techs in Wisconsin, but it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field must be the standard requirement. For roles that don't meet that threshold, the TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. Some employers also use the O-1 visa for technicians with demonstrated extraordinary expertise.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most service tech sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee leads Wisconsin for service tech sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of manufacturing, automation, and industrial equipment firms. Madison follows, particularly for biomedical and laboratory equipment roles tied to its research and life sciences sector. Green Bay and the Fox Valley corridor, home to paper, packaging, and food processing equipment companies, also generate consistent demand for sponsored technical service roles.
How to find service tech visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Wisconsin employers open to sponsoring service tech roles without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface relevant openings across Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay. Migrate Mate also provides context on employer sponsorship history to help prioritize applications.
Are there state-specific considerations for service tech sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's manufacturing-heavy economy means many service tech roles are tied to industrial and agricultural equipment sectors, which have specific degree and certification expectations that affect H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Employers in the Fox Valley and southeastern Wisconsin often require field-specific credentials alongside a degree. The state's strong technical college system also means employers may weigh hands-on certifications alongside formal education when evaluating sponsored candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service tech jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
