Which companies sponsor visas for superintendents in Ohio?
Construction firms with active Ohio operations, including Turner Construction, Messer Construction, and Gilbane Building Company, have histories of sponsoring skilled superintendents. Large public school districts in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati also hire superintendents and may sponsor H-1B visa or EB-3 petitions for qualified candidates. Industrial manufacturers with Ohio facilities, particularly in the automotive and chemical sectors, also employ sponsored superintendents in plant and facilities roles.
Which visa types are most common for superintendent roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction and facilities superintendent roles classified as specialty occupations, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field. The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is also used for superintendent positions where the employer pursues permanent sponsorship through PERM labor certification. School district superintendents, who typically require advanced degrees, more commonly qualify under H-1B specialty occupation standards.
Which cities in Ohio have the most superintendent sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for superintendent sponsorship activity, driven by its construction boom, growing school district, and corporate headquarters presence. Cleveland follows closely, supported by ongoing lakefront development and a large public school system. Cincinnati's concentration of commercial construction and manufacturing operations also generates consistent superintendent demand. Secondary markets like Dayton and Akron see sponsorship activity tied to industrial facilities and regional school districts.
How to find superintendent visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters superintendent roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from sifting through listings that won't support work authorization. You can search by city, sector, and visa type to target construction, education, or industrial superintendent openings. Migrate Mate's job board focuses exclusively on employers open to sponsorship, which is the most direct way to identify realistic opportunities in Ohio.
Are there state-specific considerations for superintendent visa sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules apply to H-1B superintendent positions, meaning employers must pay the wage level tied to the specific occupation and geographic area, which varies between Columbus, Cleveland, and rural Ohio. Construction superintendent roles in Ohio often require state-specific licensure or certifications, which employers factor into sponsorship decisions. Ohio's significant public school district hiring is subject to additional state certification requirements that international candidates should verify independently before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored superintendent jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
