Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for HR generalist roles?
Portland-based employers with established HR functions and histories of visa sponsorship include Nike, Intel, Adidas North America, and Providence Health. Oregon Health & Science University and larger regional employers like PeaceHealth also sponsor HR roles. Companies with dedicated HR departments and international hiring programs are generally the most likely to support H-1B or other work visa petitions for generalist positions.
Which visa types are most common for HR generalist roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for HR generalists in Oregon, provided the role is structured as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a directly related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship pursue TN status under the USMCA professional worker category. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa if the position meets specialty occupation standards.
Which cities in Oregon have the most HR generalist sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of HR generalist sponsorship opportunities in Oregon, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, tech companies, and large healthcare systems. Hillsboro sees activity tied to Intel's campus operations. Beaverton is home to Nike's world headquarters, which maintains a substantial HR function. Outside the metro area, Eugene and Corvallis offer limited but occasional openings, often connected to university or healthcare employers.
How to find hr generalist visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters HR generalist roles in Oregon specifically to employers who have sponsored work visas, saving you from applying to companies unlikely to support your petition. You can search by city, visa type, and role to narrow results to Portland, Hillsboro, or Beaverton. Using Migrate Mate's filters means your effort goes toward employers with a documented sponsorship track record rather than companies where you'd need to raise the question cold.
Are there any state-specific considerations for HR generalists seeking visa sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements, but HR generalist roles here must still meet federal H-1B specialty occupation standards, which can be scrutinized for generalist titles. Employers in Oregon's tech sector, particularly around the Silicon Forest, are more accustomed to navigating the sponsorship process than smaller regional businesses. Oregon's strong university pipeline through Portland State University, University of Oregon, and OSU also means employers in those cities are familiar with OPT and CPT transitions into sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hr generalist jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
